Fort Clatsop National Monument is the location where Lewis & Clark wintered during their expedition of 1805.  A visitor's center, replica of the fort, and the canoe landing are located in this beautiful 125 acre park.  Summer re-enactments by park rangers. Take U.S. 101 to Bus 101, then follow the signs.

Seaside Aquarium is one of the oldest on the west coast and located in the old natatorium built in 1937.  Changing displays and their famous seals entice visitors again and again.

Haystack Rock One of the largest monoliths in the world, Haystack Rock jettisons 235 feet above sea level.  The area is teeming with marine life, interpreters are available during am low tides.  Cannon Beach

Blimp Hangar Museum - In 1942, the U.S. Navy began construction of 17 wooden hangars to house the K-class blimps being used for anti-submarine coast patrol and convoy escort. Hangar B, built at the Naval Air Station Tilllamook, still stands with a large collection of vintage aircraft on display.

Cascade Head, located 2 miles north off of Hwy 101, is an amazing area protected as a United Nations Biosphere Reserve as well as receiving State and Federal protection. 

Oregon Coast Aquarium, in Newport, named one of the top 10 aquariums by Parade magazine, there are over 190 species of marine life to see.  Passages of the Deep, a 200 foot acrylic tunnel passing through a million gallon exhibit of Oregon sea life.  Open daily, hours vary 2820 S.E. The Yaquina Bay Light is near the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Yaquina Bay State Park near Newport.  A beautifully restored little lighthouse, filled with furnishings of the period, it operated only 3 years before it was deemed unnecessary due to Yaquina Head, a short distance away.

The Yaquina Head Light is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon at 93 feet and has been in operation since 1873.  It is located within the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, a wildlife sanctuary between Newport and Lincoln City.

You can see hundreds of sea creatures through 112 windows at the Undersea Gardens, the wild presentations at Ripley's Believe It or Not and the lifelike images at the Wax Works.  All located at Mariner Square along the Newport Bayfront,  250 SW Bay Blvd  (541) 265-2206

Mark O. Hatfield Marine Science Center is a fascinating research and educational institution that promotes the wise use of the ocean and coastal environments.  The public wing displays an array of exhibits and hands-on activities including an octopus tank, tidal pool, eye-level exhibits of the ocean floor and coastal habitats.  Admission is free.

Visit the Chitwood Bridge on the Yaquina River, a beautifully restore 1930 Howe truss bridge.  Take US 20 out of Newport to Chitwood and turn right.

Cape Perpetua is the highest point on the Oregon Coast and contains some of the most intriguing sites.  Be sure and visit Devil's Churn and the Spouting Horn and hike some of the 23 miles of trails.  

The Guiness Book of World Records has recently confirmed Sea Lion Caves as the largest sea caves in the world.  It is the only known remaining home of wild steller sea lions on the North American mainland. 11 miles north of Florence, open 9:00 am to dusk, (541) 547-3111

Heceta Head Lighthouse Found at Devil's Elbow State Park, this is a popular beach and picnic area north of Florence.   A trail leads to the lighthouse and keeper's house with daily tours during the summer and on weekends the rest of the year.

Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area  This unique area of windswept sand is the result of millions of years of wind, sun, and rain erosion on the Oregon Coast.  Explore the dunes on a beach tour, ATV or sandrail available from Sandland Adventures.

Shore Acres was once the private estate of pioneer lumberman and shipbuilder, Louis B. Simpson.  Simpson brought flowering plants from around the world to fill five acres of gardens including a Japanese style garden built around a lovely lily pond.  Unique flowers bloom nearly all year.  Christmas finds Shore Acres a-glow with over 175,000 holiday lights.

The Coquille River Lighthouse; located at the mouth of the Coquille river at Bullards Beach State Park.

Bandon Cheese Factory has made cheese the old-fashioned way, since the early 1900's.  Take a tour and have a taste of Monterey jack or Cajun pimiento among many other varieties Hwy 101, Open 8-5:30

The West Coast Game Park has more than 400 birds and animals from around the world.  Pet, feed, and film a variety of wild animals.   Tigers, snow leopards, lions, bears and bear cubs, lynx and more.  7 miles south of Bandon, Open Mar 1 - Nov 30, 9 - 7:30

Cape Blanco State Park features eight miles of trails with ocean vistas, and the historic Hughes House and Cape Blanco Lighthouse.

The Port Orford Lifeboat Station was constructed in 1934 and features the station, boathouse, and many historic buildings are on the site as well as a museum with interesting information on WWII activities in the waters of the Oregon coast.
