Fleet of Flowers
Memorial Day Observance, in Depoe Bay is a stirring ceremony held
each year since 1945. The fleet of flower boats pass under the
Highway 101 bridge, form a circle in the bay and cast their memorial
wreaths onto the water. At this moment a Coast Guard
helicopter lowers its wreath into the center as military jets cross
overhead, an awe-inspiring tribute to those who have lost their
lives at sea.
