Photos must be taken within the last year. All photos become the property of the Friends of Cape Meares Lighthouse & Wildlife Refuge, Inc. Heceta Keeper's House Victorian Christmas features local musicians performing holiday favorites, warm drinks, goodies and Santa Claus making an appearance between 5 – 6 p.m. Doors will open from 4-7 pm

The Cape Meares Light, built in 1890 and on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the farthest north of the Oregon lighthouses, sitting atop a 200 foot cliff just south of Tillamook Bay adjacent to Cape Meares State Park. Walk right down to the lighthouse, it is quickly accessible on an asphalt path. Tillamook Rock Light, known as "Terrible Tilly" is located 1 1/2 miles out at sea. Built in 1880, it is currently privately owned but can be seen from Seaside and Cannon Beach. The Yaquina Bay Light is near the Yaquina Bay  Bridge in Yaquina Bay State Park near Newport. A beautifully restored little lighthouse, filled with furnishings of the period, it operated only 3 years before it was deemed unnecessary due to Yaquina Head, a short distance away.The Yaquina Head Light is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon at 93 feet and has been in operation since 1873. It is located within the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, a wildlife sanctuary between Newport and Lincoln City. Travel on to Florence and visit the most  photographed lighthouse, Heceta Head Lighthouse Situated at Devil's Elbow State Park, tour the lighthouse and lightkeepers house. The small cove also features fascinating tide pools filled with starfish, mussels and sea anemones. Winchester Bay, just south of Reedsport, is a charming little fishing village and houses the Umpqua River Light. The oldest lighthouse in Oregon, built in 1857 and rebuilt in 1894, it is also the only colored light on the Oregon coast emitting a brilliant red light. The Cape Arago Light in Charleston, is located just south of Coos Bay. This lighthouse was rebuilt 3 times, such was the necessity to light the way on this rugged section of the Oregon Coast. This lighthouse is not open to the public. The Coquille River Lighthouse can be seen in Bandon and is open during the summer months. Built to mark the dangerous bar, it was built in 1895 and operated for over 40 years. Cape Blanco, located in Port Orford, Oregon, first  beamed its life saving light on December 20, 1870 and has been in continuous operation since. Tours of the living quarter, work area and light tower are available all year, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. |
