Anything you ever wanted to know about loggers of the past and the tools of their trade can be found at the Forks Timber Museum. The museum displays local history exhibits dating back to the 1870s. The Hoh is the premier temperate rain forest in the United States because of the warming trend of the Japanese Current. The spur road to the Hoh Rain Forest is 13.2 miles south of Forks Washington and the visitor's center is 19 miles from the highway. James Island, west of the Quileute village of Lapush at the mouth of the Quillayute River, is the largest of the group of sea stacks of the Olympic National Park beaches. Rialto Beach, north of the Quillayute River, has beautiful sea stacks, a number of tide pools and wildlife including some eagles. Parking at the beach. The Sol Duc Salmon Hatchery, 13 miles north of Forks, has interpretive displays, river access and picnic areas. Makah Cultural Center is one of the finest tribal museums in the nation.
