Few locations on the planet offer the diverse cultural, historic and scenic features of the California coast.  A fun day at an amusement or water park attractions one day, can be followed by a visit to Father Serra's missions or the opulent Hearst Castle the next.  One of the world's best aquariums can be found in Monterey, while Redwood National Park has been declared one of the world's top ten great places by National Geographic.

The rugged coastline of Oregon has been a bountiful resource for the inhabitants of the area long before Lewis & Clark ended their expedition at the beaches of Seaside.  Only since the McCullough bridges were built in the thirties has this coast line had contiguous travel which resulted in a cultural legacy largely in tact.   Century old lighthouses remain from those days, as well as a host of museums reflecting the native and fishing cultures. The permanent protection of state beaches in and marine life as seen in the Newport Aquarium, Sea Lion Caves and other coastal attractions.

Designated a World Heritage Site in 1981, Olympic National Park features stunning natural areas from the 60 miles of wild Pacific coast to the 8,000 foot glacier-capped peaks to the largest old-growth and temperate rain forest in the northwest.  Vacationers flock to the 6 miles of beach at Ocean Shores, to the fields of Sequim, the lavender capital of the world, and to savor the oysters of Willapa Bay, once the delicacies of the great hotels of San Francisco.  Museums depicting the historic heritage of the Makah and the fishing and timber pioneers, in addition to unique attractions such as the World Kite Museum in Long Beach, make this section of Hwy 101 a vacation to remember.
