Owned and operated by husband & wife team Scott & Casey Howard. The Howard family has charter fished in Winchester Bay since 1962.  Strike Zone Charters was formally known as Gee Gee Charters.

2003 Fishing Info

Salmon Fishing is back and in high demand! Our Coho season is usually only 3-4 weeks long but our Chinook fishing in the ocean opens in April and closed Oct. 31. The last two years the Umpqua has had record breaking runs and this year looks to be the same!  Winchester Bay provides world renowned salmon fishing.  This is why the marina is called Salmon Harbor. We have been fishing in Winchester Bay for 41 years and have never seen Chinook fishing like this!  People keep talking about the good old days of fishing here. The good old days are NOW.
Winchester Bay also provides pristine Mid-Water Rock fishing, we specialize in large ling cod. Umpqua River Sturgeon, Halibut fishing. In 2001 the boats in Winchester Bay had the largest grade of Halibut on the coast.
 
Strike Zone is our 44 ft. US Coast Guard Inspected charter vessel. Strike Zone is a 28 passenger boat but for comfort we fish 8-10 people, giving Strike Zone more elbow room than any boat in the harbor.  Strike Zone is also the only US Coast Guard inspected vessel making it the safest boat in the fleet. Strike Zone is operated by Scott Howard who has had a near coastal masters license issued by the USCG for 20 years. Scott was born into the charter fishing business here in Winchester Bay and began working on the boats as soon as he was old enough to bait a hook.  Scott has a great reputation for his fishing, boat operating, and safety.

 

Reel X-treme is a  1999 23 ft. Bayliner Trophy it carries 4 passengers for a more private guided trip. Reel X-treme is operated by Casey Howard who holds a near coastal masters license issued by the USCG. Casey began her fishing career when she was 16 years old working for Gee Gee Charters.

 

Hot Pursuit is our 28 ft. Tollycraft Sportfisher. This boat is perfectly suited to fish 6 passengers. Hot Pursuit is operated by Jon Hathaway who has been part of the Strike Zone family for 5 years. Jon holds a near coastal OUPV master license issues by the USCG. We have received many wonderful comments from passengers who have fished with him. We are confident that you will enjoy your trip with Jon when you fish aboard Hot Pursuit.
